Five of the region’s favorite malls encourage residents to donate clothing, books, reading glasses and mobile phones to aid the less fortunate

Dubai, UAE, 24 July, 2011 – This year, Majid Al Futtaim Properties – one of the region's most prominent property and shopping mall developers, with community touch points across Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman – will once again institute its ‘Make A Difference This Ramadan’ campaign, continuing the company’s commitment to help the underprivileged across the region. For the fifth year running, all Majid Al Futtaim properties located within the UAE – Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre, Mirdif City Centre, Sharjah City Centre and Ajman City Centre – will be encouraging customers to donate everyday items such as clothing, books, reading glasses and mobile phones.
The initiative is part of Majid Al Futtaim Properties’ regional-wide Ramadan campaign, and last year over 62,000 items were gathered collectively across the company’s nine regional malls. Regional malls include Alexandria City Centre and Maadi City Centre in Egypt, Bahrain City Centre, Qurum City Centre and Muscat City Centre in Oman, as well as the UAE-based malls mentioned above.
Due to the campaign’s overwhelming success all locations will once again have special collections boxes strategically placed within each mall, allowing customers to donate the much-needed items. As part of the company’s devotion to social responsibility, at the end of the month-long charity initiative all collected items will be distributed to the Red Crescent – meaning all generous donations will ultimately be gifted to those on need.
Speaking of the ‘Make A Difference This Ramadan’ campaign, Ali Al Abdallah, Senior Director of Asset Management, declares, “Ramadan is a time to reflect on the lives of those who are less fortunate than ourselves, and our Make a Difference this Ramadan campaign is the perfect opportunity to create awareness and reach out to those who need it most. Our aim this year is to build on last year’s overwhelming success while continuing to spread the message of giving this Ramadan”.
